Hi Brett-
I just wanted to let you know that not only was that class great, but I think it was the most influential of my college career. I honestly do not know if that class could be duplicated--the dynamics between the students and teacher and students to their peers was unbelievable. It goes to show when students respect their teacher and their teacher shows mutual respect for them what can be achieved.
I feel very blessed when I come across professors like yourself.
What I probably got the most from was the daily discussions. We touched on topics and articles that I possibly would have skipped had I only been reading the paper alone. I learned things that are valuable for everyday interaction. One of my best friends is a BC grad who thinks he is a Harvard alum. Over drinks one night we were talking about the Supreme Court Justices, since one of his brothers (who is a Harvard grad) had a job as a clerk for one of them. I (about 2 martinis under) felt the need to pipe up....confident that I could throw names around since I had learned ALL of the justices names in class the week before. Needless to say I blew his hair back with that simple fact.
Great class Brett--------I may even come back for a class next spring if you teach Public Affairs Reporting. Have a great summer. Ker:)

Brett, Since grades are already in I won't feel like a suck up. Teachers like you are where I get my inspiration from. You treat college students as equals and no less. I think that is very important. I think you got better quality work from the whole class than some of the other teachers we gossiped about.
In your course I learned to handle my committment problem, how to abide by deadlines, interview skills and even though I hate to say-politics. I also learned that reading the paper everyday is important. And although, like you saud, I was very quiet I knew what was going on.
I am not one to force my opinions on other or even share them. But I was very into the topics we covered.
That was my last class at SSC. I graduated!!! But thank you for making in one of the most enjoyable. I hope to find myself teaching real soon and I will often think back at what has gotten me to this path. It is teachers like you that inspire. So keep doing what you're doing and remember that you are makinag a difference and are way better than all the teachers I have ever had. Have a great summer And good luck at SSC

Hello Brett, Thanks for the feed back! I've been so busy this summer I didn't even realize the time that has gone by. I hope your summer is going well also. I really wish I got into communications earlier. I think if I had taken your class as a freshmen I would have made communications my major. Looking back, I think your class had the greatest impact on me at of all the classes I took in college. Not to mention the fact that I really enjoyed it! I would have liked to have been around to work on the newspaper. It's kind of funny because I never saw myself as a writer. I guess it's because I agonize over doing it but I'm usually happy with the final product. Anyway, thanks for getting back to me and good luck with the newspaper! Talk to you later!
Andrew

Dear Brett,
Attached is my final essay for Communication. Sorry it took so long to send you my final. I have reworked this essay about a thousand times. I am still not satisfied with it; however, I know I have taken a much longer time to complete this assignment
then you probably prefer.
On another note, I want you to know that I really enjoyed having you as a professor. You are by far one of the best college professors I've had at SCC or RIT. Furthermore, as of now I am planning on attending Salem State for the remainder of my undergraduate career. I would very much like to declare a comm major and I request that you become my faculty advisor. I look forward to working with you in the future, and please keep in touch over the summer.
Sincerly,
Ben Navon

Hey Brett,
Thank you for the summer reading, I will take great intrest iun reading that, I am a fan of Mike Lupica's. I have some good news on the job front as I have been hired as a full time news reporter for the Malden Observer/Medford Transcript. The pay sucks, its news and I just worked a 13 hour day, but I can't complain, its a job. I wanted to thank you for everything over the last three years, I value all of the help that you gave me and I would not be nearly as good at what I do without your aid and influence. I regret that I did not take more intrest in the Log in the final weeks, but I had a few political rifts with certain staff members so I chose to keep my distance. Please don't take it personal.
Thasnk you again and keep in touch,
dan
