Brett
So I just wanted to pass along some info to you and the rest of the Comm Department. I started today at the Daily Item as Advertising Sales Rep. Its so great to have landed a job in my field and I give a lot of credit to the help of all professors in the departmentfor helping me learn and experience enough info to land a job like this. So Thank you Brett and everyone else. Brett if you didn't open the door back in May 2005 I would never
have been able to find my calling so Thank you. Chris

hey brett, i just wanted to thank you real quick for everything that i have taken away from your classes over the past 4 years. I know i have not done my best work throughout some of the semesters but i have really learned the most from your classes. Not only about the journalsim (which i found out is not for me) but working with people and dealing with tough situations. I really do appreciate everything and taking your classes and listening to everything that is going has been a pleasure for me throughout my college career. Again thank you and hoepfully if i need anything you will be around for contact.
thanks

Hey Brettski-
I missed your "last hurrah" sometime last week, I unfortunately check this email account highly infrequently. At any rate, I wish you a hearty congratulations toward the impending birth of your twins. I have a strong feeling that those children will comprehend the value of Buddhist non-attachment along with the desire to serve the public's interest by the age of five.
Though I currently work at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute as a laboratory assistant, I sincerely wish to thank you (because I haven't yet) for the truly inspiring lessons you taught me during my time at Salem State. I knew how to write a novel long before I attended SSC, but I sure as hell didn't know how to write a decent breaking news story, and I now owe that skill to you. I'm currently working on getting several papers in the Somerville/Cambridge area to give the green light on a possible weekly column, and if it should actually succeed, I'll be sure to let you know. Again, congratulations toward the birth of your children, give me a call if you're ever in the Somerville neighborhood.
As ever,
Michael C. Belkner
Hi Brett,
Hope all is well with the boys. I was navigating through your website tonight and ended up there much longer than I planned – good job. I wanted to give you my personal “thanks” because I never formally did. You are truly GREAT. I used to grit my teeth when politics came up in discussion, practically boycott writing altogether and give teachers little credit for what they do. How times have changed since I’ve been one of your students. You treat us like adults, but most importantly as equals. Giving someone the satisfaction of knowing their work has potential is so gratifying and pushes students to try harder and work longer at something that triggers their interest. Thanks for all
the fun times and valuable lessons – in journalism and life.

P.S. I still buy the New York Times everyday even though the quizzes are over!

Hi Brett,
I just got back from Florida and recieved your e-mail! It has been a pleasure having you as a professor. I enjoyed your class and learned a great deal about communications. Thank you so much for the kind words in my grading summary. They really meant a lot to me. I absolutely love to write and I am defenitley interested in writing for the Log next semester. I appreciate you adding my name to the e-mail list. Keep me posted and I'll
see you in a few months!

Brett,
Thanks for understanding. I've suffered from migranes since I was in high school. Have medication for them, but I usually get hit by 1 good one every month. I'm going to crawl back under my covers, but before I do, I just wanted to thank you for everything you've taught me over the semester. You've made writing fun for me again. I've been through alot over the past 4 years, but it seems like my life is finally getting itself back into order. Thank you so much for believing in me, and helping me with my work. I'm looking
forward to class with you next semester.
Sincerely,
Jonathan

dear Brett,
I never really had a chance to thank you for the positive critisicm you've given me throughout this semester. It's nice to know that you have the same confidence in my writing as I do. I was wondering though, could you be more specific when you say to work on my AP style. I've been trying to improve throughout each assignment, and I just don't know what I'm missing. Anything that you could do to help would be great.
Thanks again,
Cory Higgins

Thank you very much for the great course you taught. I really enjoyed our
class discussions and was wondering if you were teaching writing for media. If you could email me and let me know i would love to take it with you. thank you have a great holiday.

Here is my last paper. I will see you in class tomorrow, but before i forget, i want to say i really enjoyed this class. It gave us a chance to escape the norm and bring current events and such into the class discussion. Thanks again Brett see you tomorrow Kevin

Brett,
Here's my final essay for Public Affairs Reporting. I enjoyed being in that class this semester, even if I was "contrary" more than a few times. Thanks for dealing with my concerns from a journalistic perspective over the last two years and helping criticize my work when it was handed in sub-par. It's really helped me improve as a journalist and as a writer. I'll also be sure to look up some more of those Buddhist texts later on. Maybe when I have time after reading the 70 odd books I own that I still need to get through. I'll see you later. Much thanks for everything.
